Testing a Water Line Check Valve
A check valve may be installed in a house water line in order to regulate water entering and exiting. Though a check valve in a water line requires little external interference, it is important to test the check valve every now and then to ensure the correct water pressure is entering the home. To test the check valve, begin by opening the high-side and low-side bypass valves. Then attach the high-side hose on the test kit to the fitting, which is usually to the left side of the check valve.
The low-side of the hose from the test kit should be attached to the testcock to the right of check valve. Turn off the first shut-off valve (connected to the water line) and then slowly open the testcocks to which the hoses are attached. Open the high-side bleed valve and then close the low-side bleed valve. Read the PSI on the test kit to see if the water pressure is where it needs to be.
Fast Food Debacle
My skills in the kitchen are severely limited, but with the job market like it is, the only place that I could find work was in the kitchen of a fast food restaurant. While this certainly wasn’t my dream job, at the time I was simply satisfied to have a job in any capacity. From my first day on the job, it was evident this wasn’t a career path I should pursue.
I started by burning a batch of fries and nearly setting the entire facility on fire. That was followed by spilling a five-gallon bucket of cola while trying to refill the machine. Lucky for me there was a stainless steel floor drain, so the sugary mixture didn’t flood the whole place, although it did take me hours to remove the sticky residue.
Lumaco Concentric Check Valve
When choosing a check valve, the Lumaco Concentric Check Valve is they way to go. The check valve is responsible for preventing the back-flow of product in the working line.
The Lumaco check valve has many benefits starting with the material it’s made of. This check valve is constructed completely of 316 Stainless Steel which gives the valve the highest corrosion resistance. The Lumaco check valve also has an EPDM (Viton is also available) O-Ring, which in turn makes the valve leaf proof! These are only a few of the many benefical features the Lumaco Check Valve has.
Lumaco Sanitary Valves
Lumaco offers a wide variety of sanitary valves including the Minidisc, Doubledisc, Betterfly, Check, Plug, Slimline Ball, N7 Automatic Air, and Pressure Relief Valves. Sanitary valves are a must when being used in clean or sterile processing.
LKC Check Valves
The LKC Check Valves are truly on top of the rest. When looking for a sanitary valve to prevent the reverse of flow, the LKC Check Valve is the way to go.
How does it work you ask? The LKC valve opens when the pressure below the valve plug exceeds the combination of the product at hand and then spring pressure above the plug. Then, the valve closes when the combination of product and spring pressure above the valve plug exceeds the pressure below the plug.
The design of the valve body is in two parts that are assembled by the means of a sanitary clamp and is then sealed with a special seal ring. There is a guide disc and four legs guide the spring loaded valve plug with an O-ring seal. LKC-2 has welding ends or Tri-Clamp® connections.
