Many of the modes of transportation that revolutionized our country would have been impossible without the advent of steam power. Locomotive trains, steamships and riverboats all relied on steam to transport passengers to new and exciting destinations. Although steam has been replaced by fossil fuels and renewable energy sources in the transportation sector, it remains a vital part of the operation of residential and industrial boilers.
Boilers are especially practical when used as water heaters. One component of boilers – steam separators – are particularly crucial because they separate steam from water droplets. This process matters because wet steam reduces thermal efficiency and therefore requires more power to create the same level of output.
